Welcome to my page on educational links.  This page contains some of my favorite and "go to" websites.  My links are divided into two sections, one dedicated for students, the other for teachers.  Several of these websites, however, are student and teacher resources.

Links for Students

BrainPop

A large collection of educational videos on a variety of subjects.  I like how the videos are easy for students to understand and the interactive activities for students.  Students can create their own videos and submit them to their teacher.

50 States Game

An excellent resource in reinforcing the names and locations of the 50 states.  I have students use this website throughout the year, especially if a student has extra time in class.  Students like to compete to for the fastest time.

Google Classroom

A link to the Learning Management System (LMS) that I use with my students.  Google Classroom is a user friendly LMS and offers the basic features most teachers are looking for.

Mission US

Mission US offers several online game like simulations based on historical events.  Students are highly engaged as they play these games.  There are many resources for teachers that are aligned to the game play.

USA Test Prep

I use this online assessment tool four to five times a year with students.  It's large bank of pre-created questions are aligned to my state teaching standards.  Teachers can also create their own multiple choice or written response questions.

White Pine Middle School

This is where my students go to primarily view their grades.  Families may also login to view their child's grades.  I also use Skyward to message students and families throughout the school year.

iCivics.org

iCivics is one of my go to teaching resources.  It's filled with highly interactive and engaging lessons that range in topic from government, to economy, to history.  All materials are free.

The creator of this website and author of its content is Mr. Roughton.  He offers many excellent quality social studies lessons for free.  Several of my favorite lessons originate from here.

Teaching Tolerance

Teaching Tolerance offers great resources to educators for teaching the topics of diversity, equity, and justice.  I have used materials from this website when my students view Roots.

Michigan Open Book Project

This free resource offers free digital textbooks for social studies that align to the Michigan teaching standards.  The books are compatible with various devices and are created by teachers for teachers.

Michigan Youth in Government (MYIG)

MYIG offers a unique opportunity for students to learn about our government by being the government.  Several program areas, including mock legislature and mock trial take place at this annual conference in Lansing, MI.

Association for Middle Level Education (AMLE)

AMLE is the hub for all things middle level education related.  Numerous articles and resources are continually posted.  Resources align with the principles outlined in This We Believe.
